From Konitsa to Olympos in 24 hours

Six amateur athletes will start it Friday, July 11, 2014, at 6:00 p.m, from the central square of Konitsa, to travel about 300 difficult cycling kilometers, continuing on foot to the top of Olympus. In 24 hours. The ultimate goal is to strengthen it Association of Friends of the Disabled (SFA) "Action for something else" in Thessaloniki.
The cycling part of the route (about 300km) is estimated to finish in about 17 hours at the Gortsia Olympos location, the point where the path leading to the peaks begins. From there, they will hike to Mytika, the highest peak in Greece (2917m) - until 6 pm on Saturday, thus "closing" the 24-hour window. This is the 3rd consecutive year of the event. In August 2012, the effort was dedicated to the 'Children's Village in Filiro', and in June 2013 to the 'Lighthouse of the World', in Dendropotamos, Thessaloniki.
"KO24" is not only the athletes. It is the collaboration of dozens of people who voluntarily support the effort, each contributing with their own capabilities (group of Mountain Guides climbers, doctors, coaches, graphic designers, photographers, car drivers, etc.). But the event is not charitable, charity presupposes and nurtures inequality. The goal of "KO24" is to make known the work of our fellow citizens who selflessly contribute to the creation of a more humane society. To show that we should enjoy nature, not rush it. To show that with cooperation we can achieve much more things than each of us can do alone.
1) 'Konitsa' station: K.O.-24 and S.F.A. information stands, commemorative t-shirts
2) 'Grevena' station: simulations and informational actions on disability by SFA volunteers and the students of the 28th Lyceum of Thessaloniki
3) 'Kozani' station: 'Cycling knowledge' from cycling clubs and bike repairers with useful information about cycling in the city
4) 'Ritini' station: we play, paint and dance in the colors of the day to the rhythm given by Lalaland volunteers
5) 'Dion' station: photo activity with the theme "Bicycle and stroller, life on wheels", photos on a fixed background
6) 'Olympos' station: musical and theatrical acts on stage. In the area of the stations, images from last year's route and the activities of the SFAA will also be shown.
