5th Thessaloniki Food Festival

For a month, from November 21st to December 20th, Thessaloniki follows in the footsteps of the 5th Thessaloniki Food Festival.

In this year's event, together with the talented chefs of the city, we will look for the interesting flavors of modern local gastronomy and we will explore the evolution of Thessaloniki cuisine over the years. With a multitude of events, we will immerse ourselves in the gastronomic choices of more than 40 restaurants in the city, which offer us delicious recipes.

In the festive atmosphere of the days, the housewife's basket will be filled with fresh local products from the Christmas Market that will be set up on November 21 and 22, in the foyer of the City Hall.

Children in the kitchen will experiment with pure raw materials to create imaginative dishes in order to get acquainted with a healthy diet. This year's program included two charitable brunch in order to raise public awareness about two unknown diseases that affect our fellow human beings: Cystic Fibrosis and Celiac Disease.

Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 NOVEMBER

"CHRISTMAS MARKET AT THE CITY HALL":

11.00- 17.00 in the foyer of the City Hall, local products from associations and companies will be presented and available, in collaboration with the Professional Chamber of Northern Greece and the SEPI (ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONALS OF HISTORICAL CENTER).

At the same time, food bloggers Eva Monochari and Marilita Hadjivassiliou will present the Greek Christmas dinner to the public.

Friday 27 November until Friday 4 December

"THE MODERN KITCHEN OF THESSALONIKI":

40 restaurants in the city choose and promote the dish that in their opinion represents the modern local cuisine. The 10 dishes that will be most in demand by their customers, will emerge as representative of the modern cuisine of Thessaloniki.

Monday, December 7

"5 CHEFS OF OUR CITY PROPOSE THE MODERN VERSION OF THE LOCAL CUISINE" Presentation of the ten dishes that represent the modern Cuisine of the city. These recipes will then be included in the second gastronomic guide of the city - Food stories No 2 - "Modern cuisine of Thessaloniki".

At the same time, there will be an application (app) for smart-phones, points of specialized nutrition in the city, for specific vulnerable groups.

Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 December

"CHILDREN IN THE KITCHEN": Gastronomic activities for the children of two schools of the 2nd Municipal Community, time 17.00-19.00: professional chefs will cook in the halls of the 66th and 67th Primary schools together with the young students.

Sunday, December 13

CHARITY BRUNCH, in collaboration with the association "Action for Celiac Disease" at the Mediterranean Palace Hotel from 11.00-14.00. Presentation for the first time of the Map that marks the points of sale of products and restaurants with gluten-free food for special groups and residents of the city.

Sunday, December 20

CHARITY BRUNCH in collaboration with the Association of Parents and Guardians of Northern Greece for Children with Fibrous Cystitis, at The Met Hotel from 11:00 to 14:00.
