Tips for detoxification

Our minds may still be on the beaches, taverns and cocktails of summer but if we look at the calendar the first day of autumn has made its appearance. So it's time to detoxify our bodies after the holiday indulgence, which more or less contained all the forbidden foods and sweets as well as rather large doses of alcohol.

Follow the tips below for a healthy and not extreme detox:

  • Reduce consumption of animal foods, even for a few days. Animal foods are more difficult to digest and burden the stomach, kidneys and intestines. Also, usually during the holidays we consume them in abundance, and enriched with quite fatty substances or side dishes.
  • Temporarily exclude from your diet all "prepared" foods, such as those we buy from fast food restaurants, bakeries and creperies.
  • Avoid canned and industrially processed foods, which are usually rich in dyes, flavor enhancers, enhancers and preservatives.
  • Limit sweets and drinks containing sugar to a minimum. Beat the addiction by consuming fresh fruit, honey or alternative sweets with petimize or molasses.
  • Include only fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet, which should make up the majority of your daily diet.
  • Consume raw nuts, which contain beneficial fatty acids and protect the body from free radicals and oxidation.
  • Prefer whole grain foods and legumes, rich in plant fiber, for greater satiety, stimulation of the neuromuscular system and better bowel function.
  • Reduce the total daily amount of food and divide it into smaller equal meals, ideally 5-6 per day, 3 main and 2-3 snacks in between.
  • Minimize your consumption of alcoholic beverages. On your outings, prefer non-alcoholic drinks or carbonated water, as well as natural juices without sugar.
  • Strengthen your body by consuming herbs and using herbs in your food, which we find so abundantly in Greek nature. They have many beneficial properties that act tonic and detoxify the body.
  • Drink plenty of water for better kidney function and elimination of toxins. Ideally, add a few drops of lemon, rich in the excellent antioxidant vitamin C.
  • Unwind with a walk in nature, which oxygenates the cells, or a warm bath with essential oils, which relaxes and detoxifies the skin.

Finally, remove "toxic" people from your life and get rid of unpleasant feelings. Good autumn!
