Unfortunately, after the festive days of Easter, the rich table of Lambri, the musk-scented buns and other delicacies, our scale began to complain... Combined with summer, which seems to be coming earlier this year, we suggest some tips for how you will get back into the rhythm of everyday life and you will be able to lose some kilos ahead of summer.

  • Follow a balanced Mediterranean diet plan and avoid detox, deprivation or mono-food diets that promise instant results. You didn't gain the pounds in a day, nor can you change your weight in a very short period of time.
  • If you are overweight, trust a qualified dietitian to suggest a personalized healthy eating plan according to your needs, schedules and lifestyle, always aiming for safe, immediate and permanent weight loss.
  • Try to eat many and small meals to get the required energy, not to be hungry and to keep your metabolism alert. Don't forget that our body is a machine that the more we give it fuel (food), the more it burns! Adopt 3 main meals a day and 2-3 snacks in between whenever possible.
  • Don't forget breakfast, it's the most important meal of the day. People who don't eat breakfast take in 30% more calories mainly from noon onwards, since they eat larger amounts at lunch or "nibble" on usually unhealthy snacks.
  • Always eat at the table and slowly, so that the message from the stomach reaches the brain that you are full, and thus avoid the extra amount due to gluttony.
  • Especially now in Spring, when there is an abundance of many and tasty, different colors, fruits and vegetables, eat as much as you can.
  • Limit the consumption of sweets, desserts and drinks rich in sugar and fat. Opt for sweets made with stevia or another fruit- or honey-based sweetener.
  • Watch out for salt consumption, which causes fluid retention, and especially the "hidden sources" of sodium, such as canned, packaged foods, cold meats, olives, pickles, smoked, pickled and all processed foods.
  • Increase the consumption of fluids, especially water, which helps to hydrate the skin and hair, lose weight, improve the functioning of the digestive system, the feeling of satiety and improve the appearance of cellulite.
  • Reduce the alcohol consumption, which you surely overconsumed during the festive days with good company and food. Alcohol only gives you empty calories, contributing to increased fat tissue and fluid retention.
  • Finally, put physical activity into your life, even if you can't or don't want to visit a gym, you can start walking, cycling or even swimming in a city swimming pool open to the public.

By following these instructions, having patience and a good mood you will be able to reach your desired goal much faster, comfortably and without burdening your health. Change your eating habits to succeed in getting back to normal weight without depriving yourself and starving. Good luck!
