RECYCLING A PLASTIC PLATE - JUMBO

The Regional Directorate of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace of EFET, in the context of the Programs it carries out "Monitoring of Food Safety Factors - Official Control of Materials and Objects Intended to Come into Contact with Food" and in collaboration with the State General Chemistry, B ΄ Chemical Service of Athens, carried out a sampling of "Plastic dish shallow, Cars, 19 cm", with lot number Lot No 11/2014 and item code Item No 62.00028, which is manufactured in China, imported by the company YIOI P. KOSTOPOULOU A. E.V.E., on 1-3 Thessaloniki Street, Moschato, P.O. 18346, Athens and distributed – sold by the company JUMBO ANONYMI EMPORIKI ETERIA.

The inspection found that the plastic plate is non-compliant with the labeling requirements of the legislation, with potential implications for food safety. In particular, it does not comply with the special instructions that must be followed for its safe and correct use. On the sticker with the instructions for use:

a) there is no notice that the plate has an inset translucent layer and decorative representation on its bottom, which or part of which, after long-term use, may be detached and detached. In this case the plate should not be used for its intended purpose.

b) the limitation of the declaration of conformity that the plate can be used up to a temperature of 70°C is not indicated.

EFET demanded the immediate recall/withdrawal of the entire specific batch in order to restore the correctness/completeness of the labeling, while the relevant controls are already underway.
